Practice makes perfect

Oh wow, two posts in one day! It must be Christmas. Nope, guess again!

...yeah, I'm bored :3.

This is a combo of ORLY Lunar Eclipse and NYC Platinum Card. Lunar Eclipse is a duo chrome of blue and purple. Blue is the more prominent colour, purple shows more under artificial light and twilight.

You can actually see a bit of purple on my middle finger. I used the NYC polish for stamping on the butterfly and also for the dots, which I applied with a dotting tool. It still needs more practice but I'm quite happy with the result. ^^

Aaaand I passed my other exam too!

Whooo! I'm on a roll! Anyway, here is a mani I did a while back. Me and stamping have a love/hate-relationship. It looks great but you have to be patient for it, something I am not. At all.

At first, I wanted it to be red/white but then I discovered this purple polish someone had given me. It's ORLY  Plum Noir. The stamping is done with the special stamping polish from Konad.
Plum Noir needs just two coats to reach full opacity and it dries fairly quickly.

P-P-P-Pokerface

Hiii!

I finally have some time to upload a picture of my mani! (yaaay *cheering noises*). Anyway, this reminds me a bit of...

Ah, I absolutely LOVE Lady Gaga. So, here's the makeup look. It's really simple yet colourfull!

It definitely got the attention of the people on the train! Aaaand the mani is my first try with tape designs.

A small cute lightning bolt! This bugger gave me quite some trouble, though. I need to practice my skills but it came out nice, you know - this being my first time.

Polishes I used are:
- Halley's Comet (as base colour). Check out the review here.
- China Glaze Fairy Dust (I can't get enough of this polish!).
- Catrice I Wear My Sunglasses At Night (the lightningbolt).

By the way, I only made three mistakes on my exam _O_ and I was sure I was going to fail it! Tuesday is the next one. Fingers crossed...

Young Grass

Hello! ^^

I have another make-up look today! "...but the name of your blog is Kinetic POLISH!? :@" I know but I'm studying for exams now and make-up is faster doable than nails.

So now that that issue is out of the way, today I woke up with the sun shining bright in my face and the grass outside was green - so that's how this look was created!

This looks makes me listen to happy songs and dance around while people look at me with their eyebrow raised. And it also makes me wonder why I spend my time wearing neutral colours when bright ones are so much more fun!

Okay, so now I'm going back to my book to study - I hear it crying "Mariaaaa, your exam is this thuuursdaaay...".

Flags

Today was pretty exciting. The European Championship of Water Polo is held in my town and our dancing school approached us with the question if we wanted to be the flag carriers for this event. Hell yes! The dress code was all white and we had to do our hair and make-up because it would be live on tv. Make-up! Hair! Whoooo! Since orange is THE colour of Dutch people, I decided to incorporate it in this look.

Smokey eye with a little twist. I used a buttload of products to achieve this, so if anyone is interested I'll list them. Here's a picture of the overall look, with my hair done too.

I got to hold the Russian flag and the ceremony was horrible at best. Nothing was planned, the band started to play a completely different song and no one actually knew what was going on. But it was fun! Me and a friend needed to go to the toilet and the women's toilet was in the same place as the men's showers. Eh? I'm telling you, those speedos are WAY too tight...

Curly tail

OPI Muppets Collection. Expensive, but completely worth it! € 13,95 a pop ... still worth it... I bought Divine Swine. There are enough pictures online of this polish alone so here's something else.

This is Dublin from W.I.C. by Herôme, topped off by Divine Swine. The picture above is taken in natural lighting, on top of my study book (I mean, what else are they for?).

And there are the bottles. You can see that Divine Swine is full of fuchsia glitter. It also contains hexagon silver chunks of glitter. They are both thrown into a clear base. This polish is hard to apply on its own. I needed at least four coats and a few dots to cover up bald patches. The result is astounding and totally worth it. I won't be showing it, because there are so many swatches of this polish out there, that it would be excessive to dedicate another post about it. But if anyone really wants to see it, I might reconsider!
Anyway, here is a better picture of the layering.

I used two coats of Dublin and two coats of Divine Swine to achieve this effect. I also switched to a different top coat: Insta-dri from Sally Hansen. It creates the same shiny effect as Seche Vite and dries just as fast, but there is no early chipping and NO TIPWEAR! Huzzah! I'm going to stock up on it, 'cause that stuff is magic in a bottle!

On another note, I'll be writing a guestpost on The Lacquerista soon. So keep your eyes open!

New lay-out!

Hi!

Instead, of actually studying I decided to give my blog a new, fancy dress. The design comes from http://www.simplyfabulousbloggertemplates.com/ . They have the most amazing and cute designs for all us bloggers. There are free designs (like mine) and you can buy designs for a very reasonable prize. I can't afford anything extra at this point (nail polish being the exception here...) being a poor student, but I would definitely buy one if I could! So, that's definitely on the wishlist.

Future Zebra

Hello :)

Today, I have something entirely different! The weather has been very grey and dull lately, so I decided it needed a splash of colour...

These are two eyeliners above each other: MAC Rapid black eyeliner and Bourjois Métallisé in the colour 54 Bleu clinquant.

Girly

Happy New Year everyone! 2012, here we are and I have a feeling it's gonna be great. My New Year's mani chipped and got all fucked up before I could even take a picture of it - so that sucks but I have something that's also fun. Here's something very girly and something I wouldn't be caught dead wearing four years ago.

It's pink and it has glitters! I mean, it doesn't get better than that. This combo is OPI I Think In Pink topped off with China Glaze Fairy Dust.

The top picture is in natural light and the bottom in sunlight (O-M-G, it's actual sunlight. You know how rare it is in the Netherlands nowadays?). I used three coats of OPI I Think In Pink and I must say I dislike how it applies. It's hard to get even without any bald spots. The colour on the other hand is delicious and the pictures are a good representation of it.

Eeeeep, just look at the sparkles!
