Summer, where art thou?

Does someone else feel like winter has been dragging on forever? Time to banish the gloom with some bright polish!
I was visiting the market with my mum and came across a brand I've never heard of before. It's called Paris Memories. The stall I got it from mostly sold flakies and glitter so I picked up two bottles. One of which I used in today's manicure.

So that's the new one on the left. As you can see, there's a lot going on in this polish. There are: big round glitters in the colours green/orange, small round glitters in the colours green/orange and small round glitters in the colour purple. It looks like it's in some kind of sheer lilac base, but that's not visible once applied on the nails.
On the right is China Glaze Lighthouse.

I didn't have a lot of time to come up with something more original than layering. But it looks really good, especially when the weather is overcast outside.

I was actually a bit disappointed with Lighthouse at first. The first two coats were super sheer and I almost gave up weren't it for the third coat. Somehow it magically transformed into a beautiful golden yellow, with good coverage.
The polish from Paris Memories (which doesn't seem to have a name or number) applies really well. The formula isn't too thick but also not runny. The flakies on the nails were the result of one coat. Not bad for a polish that cost me €1,50.

A while ago, I entered a giveaway on A Girl And Her Polish. She was giving away Revlon Whimsical and I thought I would give it a go. Yesterday she mailed me - I won! Aaaaaaah! I can't even believe it, because I never win anything. Can't wait 'till I have it!

Curly tail

OPI Muppets Collection. Expensive, but completely worth it! € 13,95 a pop ... still worth it... I bought Divine Swine. There are enough pictures online of this polish alone so here's something else.

This is Dublin from W.I.C. by Herôme, topped off by Divine Swine. The picture above is taken in natural lighting, on top of my study book (I mean, what else are they for?). 

And there are the bottles. You can see that Divine Swine is full of fuchsia glitter. It also contains hexagon silver chunks of glitter. They are both thrown into a clear base. This polish is hard to apply on its own. I needed at least four coats and a few dots to cover up bald patches. The result is astounding and totally worth it. I won't be showing it, because there are so many swatches of this polish out there, that it would be excessive to dedicate another post about it. But if anyone really wants to see it, I might reconsider! 

Anyway, here is a better picture of the layering.

I used two coats of Dublin and two coats of Divine Swine to achieve this effect. I also switched to a different top coat: Insta-dri from Sally Hansen. It creates the same shiny effect as Seche Vite and dries just as fast, but there is no early chipping and NO TIPWEAR! Huzzah! I'm going to stock up on it, 'cause that stuff is magic in a bottle!

Layers

Hi!

This time I have an interesting couple for you: OPI Ski Teal We Drop and China Glaze Sour Apple. A seemingly weird combo, but wait 'till you see the result!

So, as you can see Ski Teal We Drop is a ... well, a teal colour. It's more on the blue side, than green, though. Sour Apple is a very very very sheer polish, excellent for layering. It had all kinds of green flecks (think: moss, dark green, lighter green, yellowish-green, forest green) in a bright green base.

I used two coats of Ski Teal We Drop and one coat of Sour Apple to get this effect. Both polishes apply like dream. The combi really comes alive when the sun is shining. Too bad I don't have a picture of that, because the weather here has been overcast :(. So instead of that, here's a picture under artificial light.

 

It looks like some kind of wicked starry sky. Except, you know, that it's green. The teal kind of gets morphed into a greener variant, because of the green base of Sour Apple.

Pretty amazing, huh?
