Fluffy

Hi,

Today will be a second attempt at making a manicure with acrylic paint. This one earned a lot of compliments from a lot of strangers, oddly enough, 'cause I wasn't nearly satisfied with it.

Say cheese! Bonus, you can see my reflection.

They are fluffy flowers, in case you can't see it. :)

Products used:

  • China Glaze Prelude to Kiss
  • Acrylic paint

Acrylic paint

Hi,

Like I promised in my last post, this one will be about my first experience with acrylic paint instead of nail polish  for making nail art. My first and foremost annoyance with using nail polish is that it's gloopy and difficult to manage. I read on a lot of blogs that acrylic paint is a great alternative, so I raced to the stores and bought a box with a rainbow of colours. After a lot of annoyance, painting and repainting, swearing - here it is, my first acrylic paint mani:

It's simple, colourful and above all simple. Have I mentioned simple?

Products used:
  • Koh Baby Blue
  • Revlon Whimsical
  • Fuchsia acrylic paint from the Xenos

Also, I couldn't resist and bought a new Chanel polish. As soon as I saw the Roses ultimes de Chanel Collection I knew I had to have one. At first I wanted Frisson (a pearly pink with shimmer) but somehow I changed my mind to Distraction. It must have distracted me, hur hur. Anyway, here are a few pics. No swatches yet, but they're coming up soon.

Like a sir

Hi!

Blogger has a new look, for those who did not know this. It was quite a shock when I logged in. Of course, it had been announced but I thought it would be like the trial period of Winrar...
Okay, that was a quick side note :'). Now on to the business of the day. I have one hint:

Moustaches! Yes, I'm going along with the moustache trend. Sigh. But they're so fun!

Just look at it! And they're really not hard to make. You just need a steady hand and a thin paint brush. It's  even possible if your hands aren't that steady. You know, like mine.

Products used:

  • Sally Hansen Hard As Wraps, the white one (I couldn't find the name or number on my bottle?).
  • Nameless black polish.

Also, I (finally) bought some acrylic paint and made my very first mani with it. Check back, because the next mani features pink acrylic paint...

Clouds with a chance of sunshine

Hi,

I think my inspiration for Disney manicures has ended just as quickly as it began. So, we're back to 'normal' mani's. If the sun isn't coming to me, then I'm going to have to improvise.

Products used:
  • Rimmel My Denim
  • Sagitta 136 (that is the yellow one)
  • Sally Hansen manicure white

Maybe I should start using acrylic paint for my manicures, because nail polish is kind of thick.

Featured nail art!

Excitement all around today! Makeupbee (kind of a deviantart, but for makeup) had just featured my (old-ish) nail art on their Twitter. ^^ Go check it out and follow if you have an account:

Neon Spazz

Hello,

My mum bought a couple of Nfu-Oh nail polishes, one of them being a black holo (GS14). A warning upfront, it looks better in the bottle.

Look at that rainbow! Now let's see how it looks on the nails... These are my mother's nails by the way.

Hm. Not really what I expected. It's pretty, definitely very pretty, but not as breath taking. The consistency is kind of gloopy, but not impossible. Anyway, I wanted to make some kind of Riddler mani (the bad guy from Batman, with his green question mark - look him up). Aaaaand somehow I ended up with this. Cobra Starship meets neon spazz meets freaked out keyboard. I don't know what to think of it. These are my nails again.

I guess it's fun, though.

Easter Eggs

Huzzah for my creative title! Anyway, it's almost Easter and it's also spring (which isn't really noticeable from the weather outside...) - the perfect situation for some pastels!

Polishes used:
  • KOH Baby Yellow
  • KOH Baby Pink
  • KOH Baby Blue (woah, talking about original names!)
  • ORLY Jealous, Much?
  • ORLY Faint of Heart
  • Sally Hansen French Manicure White

Aaaand this is the end of a very short post! Happy Easter everyone!

We're All Mad Here

"I've often seen a cat without a grin,” thought Alice; “but a grin without a cat!"

It's all about Cheshire this time. Cheshire is a grinning cat from the book Alice in Wonderland. He is first encountered at the Dutchess' house and then sitting in a tree. He often brings up philosophical questions which annoy Alice. This is what Wikipedia has to say about this creature:

"The phrase appears in print in John Wolcot's pseudonymous Peter Pindar's Pair of Lyric Epistles in 1792: "Lo, like a Cheshire cat our court will grin." Earlier than that, A classical dictionary of the vulgar tongue by Francis Grose (The Second Edition, Corrected and Enlarged, London 1788) contains the following entry: "CHESHIRE CAT. He grins like a Cheshire cat; said of any one who shows his teeth and gums in laughing."."

Cheshire Cat Tenniel.jpg

Now on to the manicure. I wanted to keep the colours close to those of a normal house cat, unlike the Disney version of the Cheshire cat (which is purple, in case you didn't know). And of course, the grin couldn't be let out...

Tadaaah! The black bow is Alice's hairband.

The polishes used for this are:
  • ORLY Faint of Heart
  • ORLY You're Blushing
  • Sally Hansen French Manicure White
  • And a black striping polish from an unknown brand
This was one of my favorite mani's ever, even with the few mistakes made here and there. Everything was freehanded. And this is a bonus picture of my two thumbs together, a bit more practice is needed.
